  • DICTATED TO STENOGRAPHER. CHARLESTON, S. C Nov. IX, T899 Maj. J3« P. McKissick, Asheville, IT. C. My Dear McKissick: I received last night your invitation to attend the meeting of the Forestry Convention to be held in Asheville on the 22nd, and wish very much that I could get away, not only beacuse I am deeply interested in the subjects which will be dismissed by the Convention, but because I do not know of a more pleasant place to go than Asheville since my brief but very delightful experience last summer. I have intended to write you my thaaks, which I tried to express to you on our leaving Asheville, but as you have doubtless told many of the sweethearts yoxi have had, "The heart feels most when the lips mo^e not*, or words to that effect. I shall have something printed in The News and Courier about the great forestry reservation you wish to have made in Western North Carolina, and if X can spare a man from The News and Courier, will send him to Adheville to report the Convention. Otherwise, we shall have to depend upon the Asheville member of our staff to do the work for us. Very sincerely yours, x)4e^^yfA*XASL
