  • This promotional postcard was produced by the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild's Allanstand craft shop and features a family of cornhusk dolls made by Margaret C. Revis. These dolls were sold by the Allanstand shop dating back to the 1920s. This postcard, along with a cornhusk doll, was sent to John Parris, longtime columnist for the Asheville Citizen-Times newspaper in response to an article he had published. The back side of the postcard reads: "Dear John: Speaking of corn shucks - here is "Cornelius Husk", an Allanstand antique - one of the first - a treasure which we think you ought to have after reading your wonderful column in yesterday's paper - Many thanks for everything Margaret Roberts Feb. 9 1960." Roberts was the manager for the Allanstand shop during this time.
