  • TELEFONO AUGUSTO FRANK MARMI ANTICHI PER COLLEZIONE E DECORAZIONE R0MA June 28th, 1919 < s 2 ft, < PIAZZA TRINITA DE' MONTI My dear sir; = Your book on camping and woodcraft has been of so much help and has given me such continued downright pleasure that I want to express my appeciation and at the outset say that if you come to Italy again it will be a% a real big pleasure for me to show you,far from the paths usually frequented by tourists, some of natures divine spots. While I dont claim to be a cook,in the ten years that I have spent most of the time here,I have naturally picked up some wrinkles of the finest kitchen in all the world. Regardless of the general opinion, the Italian style of cooking far outshines the french, german, hungarian, belgian, sor, american or Spanish . And I speak with a pretty varied ex«= perience. On a hundred kilometre trip down the Tiber two years ago,! cooked for fourteen men. Some of them were boys as to age but at mess they all were supermen. We do not have hunting and fishing here that gives us the results that american campers expect. Once in awhile a hart comes our way and there are some strems where there are some pink fleshed trout that are fine eating. They are not salmon trout. Last year, with one side pard, I spent a lovely time on the top of lit Terminillo,at the apline refuge. This hut is 2200 metres above sea level but we had lots of forrests to ream through lower down. For this yeay,we have taken a little stone hut on the Stoncone platteau.Above Terni, where those wonderful waterfalls are that supply the power for government steel mills. There will be only the two of us,as last year. There are large virgin tracts of beech, oak and chesnut.
