I thank God for this giv- ing /\ me \/ such good health. I was able to hold two church services for my pastor Sunday. I am also able to do two or three hours work in the garden each day. The remainder of the time I enjoy eating sleeping and reading. Time never gets heavy on my friend. One of the most refresh- ing seasons of the day is continuing for a considerable time in secret pray. When I am tempted to let the load overwhelm me prayer lifts the burden at once.

In this letter of July 20, 1950, Alonzo C. Reynolds writes to his daughter Mary Cowan (formerly Reynolds) about his home life. Mr. Reynolds spends his time taking care of his wife Nannie, attending church services, and doing housework. He tells Mary of his plan to move with Nannie into Mr. Lance’s house by July 1st of next year.
